How to regain confidence after a fall
For younger people, falls are a minor inconvenience and rarely have a deeper effect on their physical or mental health. However, for senior or elderly patients it’s another story. Falls when you are older can often cause physical problems and long healing times.
When these falls happen, the focus is mostly on getting physically better. However, the psychological and emotional impact of these falls can be just as debilitating as the physical ones.
One of the biggest impacts of a fall is losing confidence in everyday movements. Often, because of this loss of confidence, patients can adopt a sedentary lifestyle. They do not move as much from fear of falling again. Sadly, this means that their joints seize up and they become more at risk of falling again.
Here at The Well Balanced Centre, we want to stop this cycle.
How can we help?
Using a mix of physiotherapy, movement training and a tailored exercise plan, we can help you get back on your feet. Not only can we get you moving safely again, but we can also get you feeling confident about it too.
We offer a wide range of treatments including (but not limited to):
Home based physiotherapy in Bolney
Strength and balance training
Preventing future falls
Assisted movement practice
Tailored home exercise plan
Review of mobility aids
Regaining functionality post COVID-19
What’s so great about home based physiotherapy in Bolney is that we assess the patient in their home environment. This allows us to spot hazards in the home and prevent future falls. Hazards can include furniture, doorways and stairs. Another benefit to home based physiotherapy in Bolney is that we can help patients gain movement confidence in their home environment.
One of the things we encourage here at The Well Balanced Centre is setting yourself reasonable goals. Setting goals gives you something to aim for and also helps you see how far you’ve come. It’s a good idea to set yourself small goals and then one larger goal. For example, a small goal could be ‘I want to climb up the stairs whilst assisted’. Then, a larger goal could be ‘I want to regain confidence when moving’. In your initial session, we will sit down with you and chat about your goals. We can then create a tailored physiotherapy and movement plan to help achieve them.
Why choose The Well Balanced Centre?
